What is Telehealth?
Telehealth is the use of internet, standard phone lines, and other technological advances to deliver medical or health based content over long distances.
How is telehealth related to pharmacy?
Advances in technology are helping pharmacists around the country to work from home. More and more companies are either moving towards or have already established "home-based pharmacists." Companies such as MEDCO and the Cleveland Clinic are a few that have pharmacists practicing from home.
What do work-at-home pharmacists do? How does it work? Where are they located?
Depending on what company, work-at-home pharmacists perform many duties, mainly being order entry, order verification, and working with patients and doctors to achieve optimum medication therapy for the patient. Pharmacists are able to work-at-home with very minimum requirements, usually companies require pharmacists that work at home have access to a high-speed internet connection (e.g. DSL, Cable). As far as location, this type of job can be located anywhere from California to Tennessee, it just depends where and what companies have this type of oppurtunities available.
